De Pere Landscapers: Lowney’s Offers One-Stop Shop for Outdoor Entertaining

Tim and Joan Van Severen of De Pere wanted to upgrade the beautiful outdoor space at their home, but trying to pull together contractors for such an expansive and wide-ranging project is not easy today, or almost impossible.

And this project was going to involve a lot of contractors. There is the deck, which got completely rebuilt. There is a lot of stonework, including a fireplace. The entire house is surrounded by perennials and other plants, stone, and mulch.

There was even tree work to be done and a new tree to be planted.

So who do you call when you need a Green Bay landscaping company? And who do you call if you have hardscape (stone), softscape (trees and plants), tree inspection, removal and replacement, and a deck with lighting?

Tim is glad he called Lowney’s because he said if he hadn’t, “we’d probably still be working.”

Working With One Contractor

You can play general contractor on your landscaping rebuild, to be sure. If you are retired and have plenty of time and patience, it’s one option. If you’re not, you’re asking for trouble.

The reason why Tim Van Severen and others choose a company as large as Lowney’s is, so they don’t have to be their own general contractor. Lowney’s has full-time crews both hardscape and softscape, designers on staff who will create 3D designs of your plan, a tree service, and even full-time landscaping maintenance crews.

“I can’t imagine having three or four different companies involved in this,” Tim said. He said they started out the project by calling a variety of different companies like a deck company. He’s thankful he called a company that can do almost everything, so they can coordinate the schedules. “I much prefer to work with as few people as necessary,” he said. “We wanted this to be as simple as possible for us.”

De Pere Landscaping Outdoor Entertainment Space

One of the things you get with an all-inclusive landscaping company like Lowney’s is experience at every level of the project. In this case that started with the company’s landscape architects who created the plan for the trees and plants and drew the designs for everything in their 3D program.

What wound up being used in this project? The front includes crabapples, hydrangeas, white pines, spirea, and weigela. On the sides, you can find (in addition to those) boxwoods, deutzia, lilacs, and serviceberries.

A variety of grasses are found in the back, led by Karl Foerster, and unique to that area are ninebark, phlox, and cimicifuga.

There are concreate edgings, and wall rebuilds, drain tiles, and down spouts of course, so a project like this requires plenty of crew members with different expertise.

There is quite a bit of Unilock used in the pavers in the lower patio area, and the firepit is a Unilock kit. Lowney’s on-staff carpenters built the deck, and the lighting is from FX Luminaire.
